Zumbo is an open source dictation app for macOS that uses local AI models to turn your speech into text in about a fifth of a second, with near perfect accuracy and complete privacy. Hold your shortcut, speak, and the words are typed wherever your cursor is, in any app, from Slack and Mail to Terminal, Xcode and Cursor, letting you write at around 150 words a minute instead of 40. Everything runs on your Mac and works offline, so nothing you say is sent to the cloud. You can teach it corrections and add vocabulary packs for your field, capture quick voice notes, use Meeting mode for timestamped transcripts, and browse everything in a searchable history with favourites. It requires macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon. Key Features: - Instant Local Dictation: speech becomes text in about 0.2 seconds, entirely on your Mac - Works Everywhere: types straight into any app wherever your cursor is - Teach and Vocabulary Packs: correct words once and add domain-specific vocabulary - Notes and Meeting Mode: capture voice notes and timestamped meeting transcripts - Private and Open Source: offline, no cloud processing and fully open source code Zumbo is fast, private, open source dictation for Apple silicon Macs, with a 3-day free trial and a one-time price of $15.
