Folio

Folio is a Mac app for study notes that puts every subject on a shelf of beautiful notebooks. Each notebook gets its own cover in cloth, leather, kraft or gloss, and pages feel like paper with lined, grid, dotted or plain styles where text always sits on the rule. You can underline in highlighter colours, type a slash for headings, checklists, code, post-its and arrows, and drop in photos as stickers with background removal. Folio also turns your notes and PDFs into flashcards that schedule themselves, writing the cards for you on-device, and Lio, a little star, quizzes you and answers questions about a page or a whole notebook with citations. Reminders bring pages back when it's time to review, and there's no account or subscription. Key Features: - Notebook Shelf: every subject gets its own customizable cover - Paper-Like Pages: lined, grid, dotted or plain pages with highlighter underlines - Auto Flashcards: turn notes and PDFs into self-scheduling flashcards on-device - Lio Study Buddy: quizzes you and answers questions with citations, free and private - PDF Markup and Reminders: annotate PDFs and get pages back when it's time to review Folio makes studying on a Mac feel like a beautiful paper notebook with smart flashcards built in, for a one-time €5.
