Is Shottr free?+

Shottr can be used for free for as long as you want. Most features are available to free users; the main caveat is the app will occasionally ask you to consider buying it. The activated version offers a better overall experience, and the developer plans to add features and raise the price in the future.

Can Shottr upload the image online and copy a link?+

Shottr has an upload feature, but it needs to be activated. See the site for details on how it works.

Which macOS versions are supported?+

Shottr runs on macOS Catalina (10.15) and up.

When and why does Shottr contact Shottr.cc?+

After launch it checks shottr.cc/api/version.json for updates — it won't auto-download, it just shows a red toolbar icon. It needs an internet connection to validate or activate a license, and it sends anonymous telemetry to help find bugs and gauge feature popularity. No personal or identifiable info is collected, it's never sold or used for ads, and it can be turned off in Preferences. Google Analytics was removed in v1.5.1.
