NetworkMonitor
Every byte. Accounted for.

NetworkMonitor is a macOS menu bar app for live network speed and per-app data usage. It shows download and upload speed in the menu bar, updated twice a second in bytes or bits, and breaks down data use by app for the current connection, grouping helper processes under their parent app. Totals reset per network and at midnight and persist across restarts, while local traffic like AirPlay, NAS backups and media servers is excluded from internet totals. Hotspot mode pauses automatic app updates on mobile hotspots and resumes when you leave, and an on-demand speed test uses Apple's networkQuality tool with ping and jitter. A connections window shows companies, countries and servers on a list or world map, with optional block or allow rules, and history can be viewed by day, week, month or year and exported to CSV.
Key Features:
- Live Speed: upload and download in the menu bar
- Per-App Usage: see which apps use your data
- Hotspot Mode: pause updates on mobile hotspots
- Speed Test and Connections Map: ping, jitter and server locations
- History and CSV Export: daily to yearly usage records
NetworkMonitor gives you full visibility of your Mac's network use, completely free and open source with no account or telemetry.
